ABOUT DONALD SHAKES

Donald’s awakening into the world of yoga began in 2003 when he started the study of Transcendental Meditation under the late Carol Maher. During this time Donald also dabbled in Reiki and Tibetan singing bowl healing.

Next came the physical practice, beginning with Bikram before journeying into Hatha Yoga, Iyengar, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Restorative and Yin Yoga. It was during these early Bikram days that Donald accidentally went to the wrong class at his local studio in Surry Hills, NSW and entered a Power Vinyasa Yoga class – this is where he had his “This is it” moment, and he hasn’t looked back since!

Donald has completed over 2000-hours of teacher training courses, along with assisting teacher training modules, alignment workshops, and anatomy courses. He then went on to found Shakes Yoga in 2009. His life experiences led him in his search to help others become empowered through their bodies using Yoga, Meditation and the healing sound of Tibetan Singing Bowls.
